Not the way the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons had hoped to come out of the Christmas holiday Friday afternoon. The Commodores limited the Maroons to just three field goals in the opening quarter as Perry County Central took a 19-6 lead.
In the second quarter, it was the Madisonville defense that did the job, holding Perry County Central to just a pair of field goals as the Maroons cut the lead to 23-15 at the half.
Trayten Woods and Beau Bakun then took over the game coming out of the break. The duo combined to score 20 points in the third quarter as Perry County Central pushed the lead out to 46-24 heading into the final quarter.
The Commodores then rode out the big lead over the final eight minutes to get the 23 point win.
DeVonte Wilkes was the Maroons’ top scorer with 9 points. Landen Smith and Ryan Bryant had 6 points each. Davin Cheirs and Peyton Smith finished with 5 points each.
Perry County Central’s Beau Bakun led all scorers with 26 points. Trayten Woods added 17 points for the Commodores.
