This could be a historic night for Meade County senior Peyton Bradley who needs 10 points in tonight’s home game against Owensboro Catholic to reach 3,000 career points.
However, she might have had an even more memorable experience in her last game when she had 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a 55-50 win over Third Region rival Breckinridge County.
Kentucky coach Kenny Brooks came out to watch the talented guard play. He had reached out earlier in the week and she found out a day earlier that was coming to watch her play along with assistant coach Lindsey Hicks
“They were not on my (recruiting) radar at all. I have always been a UK fan but they definitely were not on my radar until I talked to them (last week),” she said.
Bradley, who missed the second half of last season with a knee injury, had opted not to make a college choice until her season ends and hopes to finish her career playing in Rupp Arena in the state tournament like Meade did in 2022.
The 5-9 guard is a three-star prospect who is averaging 27 points per game this year and has hit 78 3-pointers this season. She could finish her prep career with over 500 3-pointers. She’s already second in the state in career 3-pointers with 474 and could join Jamie Walz of Highlands, who made 539 3’s from 1991-96, as the only state players with 500 made 3’s.
Brooks told Bradley that he likes having “hometown girls like Cassidy Rowe” on the team. Rowe is a junior guard from Shelby Valley on this year’s team.
“He said they need community support and having state players helps,” Bradley said. “It’s all really just crazy. They came to Meade County to see me play and we played Breck, our huge rival, and had a packed house. Everyone was going crazy.”
Breckinridge had beat Meade earlier this season so the main highlight for Bradley was winning the game to build momentum for postseason play.
No scholarship offer was made and she’s not sure if she will take a visit to Kentucky or not.
“Obviously I was in shock when they first called me. Coach Brooks was my favorite coach even before he came to Kentucky (from Virginia Tech),” she said. “Now my favorite team and favorite team are together.
“We never thought UK would call me, especially with how good they are this year. We are all huge UK fans. Even just getting a call from Kentucky and coach Brooks is a big, big deal.”

She deserves a scholarship offer. Even with the talent level much higher now and Brooks will pretty much be able to pick and choose who he wants on the team after this year having so much success in year 1. Amoore will be a huge loss so he needs guards like this young lady on the team. She could be the next Amoore but a better shooter than Amoore. She’s definitely worthy of the 12th or 13th scholarship. Everything means more to someone representing there state. She’s a scorer and when you need some points you can out her in and she will score. Honestly tho if I was in her shoes I would go somewhere a little smaller than Kentucky like maybe Western Kentucky and get a ton of experience and playing time. Maybe she has a great freshman season then can transfer to Kentucky after her freshman or sophomore year. Then kick butt for a couple of years at Kentucky or could make a legacy at Western Kentucky.
