The Caldwell County Tigers put up some big numbers Tuesday night against a young Crittenden County squad.

Six Tigers scored in double figures as the Tigers ran past the Rockets 94-39.

Caldwell, now 16-9, scored the first 10 points of the night and never trailed.

Crittenden, which is 0-24, got back to within 13-9.

But much of the rest of the first half belonged to the Tigers.

Caldwell used a 29-1 run to blow the game open, extending its margin to 42-10.

By halftime, the Tigers held a 58-19 advantage.

It’s just the eighth time in school history that Caldwell has scored that many points in a half. The record is 67 in the first half of a win over Providence in February of 1991.

The second half was played with a running clock, with the Tigers outscoring the Rockets 36-20.

Caldwell’s 94 points are its most this season and come on the heels of a 90-72 win at Trigg County on Monday.

The 94 points are the most for a Tiger team in eight years — since a 97-82 victory over Trigg in January of 2017.

Jaydarius Wilson had several dunks as part of a 16-point performance. Cade Rowland added 13 points while Ari Wells and Daelyn Lander each had 11. Pax Aikins and Collin Whittington had 10 points apiece.

It’s just the second time Caldwell has had six players score in double figures in one game. The other was an 84-81 win over Henderson County in December of 1970 (Billy Joe Grooms 16, Ronnie Spry 15, Bob Williams 13, William Sparks 12, Fred Gray 11 and Donnie Wood 10).

Crittenden got 17 points from Coby Larue and 12 from Drake Young.

Caldwell senior Luke Maddox saw his first action of the season and got into the scoring column with two points. Maddox has been out since suffering multiple severe injuries in Caldwell’s football playoff win at Fort Campbell in November.

The Tigers have now taken their last five meetings with the Rockets and 11 of the last 12 matchups.

The Tigers hold a 103-46 lead in the all-time series.

The 55-point margin of victory was not the largest in the series. Caldwell beat Crittenden by scores of 106-29 and 116-40 in the 1990-91 season.

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they face South Warren in the Hebrews Classic at Butler County.
