
Caldwell County’s girls got their softball season started in a big way Tuesday night.
Brylee Butts and Harper Holeman homered back-to-back as the Lady Tigers rolled to a 16-0 victory at 7th District foe Hopkins County Central.
Caldwell has now won 20 of its last 21 meetings with the Lady Storm.
The Lady Tigers ended the game an inning early with a seven-run sixth inning.
Butts was 3-for-5 with a triple and a homer while knocking in three runs for Caldwell. She had a two-run shot to center in the top of the fourth inning and scored three times.
Holeman was 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. She had a solo homer to left in the fourth and scored twice.
Grace Watson went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four stolen bases. Adley Lewis finished 1-for-4 with a double and scored twice.
Alexis Wood also had a big day for Caldwell. She was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and also picked up the win in the pitching circle.
Wood allowed just two hits over the first four innings and struck out five without issuing a free pass.
Jackie Farmer pitched the final two innings, giving up four hits while striking out two and walking one.
Julia Harris was 2-for-3 with a double for the Lady Storm, which lost its opener at Crittenden County 7-1 on Monday.
Addison Blanchard also went 2-for-3.
Caldwell scored in every inning while using 15 base hits and seven walks to score its 16 runs.
The Lady Tigers will face a big challenge on Thursday when they visit defending state champion Henderson County.
Hopkins Central will play at home again on Thursday when it hosts Todd County Central.
