Todd County Central overcame seven errors on Friday and used some late-inning drama to pull out an 8-7 eight-inning victory over visiting Hopkins County Central.

After seeing a five-game winning streak come to an end on Thursday with a loss to Christian County, the Lady Rebels got back to winning ways ahead of a matchup with Kenwood, TN, on Saturday at the Kelly Russell Classic in Russellville.

Hopkins Central’s Addison Blanchard had a big night at the plate, beginning with a two-run double in the top of the first.  Trailing 2-1, Todd Central nosed in front on a Lady Storm error that allowed two runs to score in the bottom of the second.

Addison Woodall’s RBI double highlighted a two-run fourth for the Lady Rebels, but Hopkins Central rallied with four runs in the fifth to take a 6-5 advantage.  Emily Ballard doubled in a run for the Lady Storm, and Blanchard drove in two more with a single to left field.

Another Hopkins Central error allowed Todd Central to tie the game in the fifth, and the score held until the top of the eighth when a Lady Rebel miscue led to the Lady Storm’s go-ahead run.

With a runner on second in the bottom of the eighth, Isabelle Hightower singled and the Lady Rebels tied the game on a passed ball.  Maddison Wade bunted into a fielder’s choice, allowing Hightower to come home for the winning run.

Olivia Weikel earned the win in the circle, allowing six runs, three earned, on 10 hits with 10 strikeouts and a pair of walks in eight frames.  Emily Ballard took the loss as the Lady Storm slipped to 2-12, surrendering seven runs, four earned, on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Wade drove in three runs for the Lady Rebels, and Hightower led the way with three hits.

Blanchard finished 3/4 with four RBI for the Lady Storm, Kylee Satterfield had three hits, and Ballard added two.

Hopkins Central will be in action on Saturday at the Ohio County Classic against Butler County, Hickman County, and the host Lady Eagles.
