At Webster County on Tuesday in search of a fourth-straight victory, University Heights Academy needed a three-run rally in its last at-bat to knock off the error-prone Trojans 8-7.

Webster pushed a run across in the bottom of the first on Gunnar Boone’s RBI single, but UHA used three walks and two errors to score twice and take the lead in the second.

Another Webster error allowed the Blazers to add a run in the third before UHA miscues led to four Trojan runs in the bottom of the frame.

Aiden Jones singled in a run in the fourth, and Ryan Luckey’s sacrifice fly tied the game in the fifth, but Webster plated the go-ahead run on Canaan Taylor’s RBI single to take a 6-5 edge into the final inning.

After a pair of singles to start the seventh, UHA again tied the game when Josh Pace’s groundout brought in Jaiden Miles.  Cadence Gibson followed with a single to score his brother, Courtland, and a final Trojan error allowed the eighth run to score.

UHA’s Thomas Hallmark hit the first batter in the bottom of the seventh before getting the first out on a strikeout.  A single and a walk loaded the bases, and another walk cut the lead to a run.  With the bases juiced and two outs, the Trojans rolled the dice with an attempt to steal home, but the Blazers were on their toes and got the final out.

Hallmark got the win on the mound, giving up an earned run on a hit with three strikeouts in two innings of work, and Pace got the final two outs with two walks and a strikeout.  Jackson Flynn started the game, surrendering six runs, three earned, on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Miles led the Blazers at the plate with three hits, and Jones collected two.

Taylor took the loss as Webster County slipped to 10-7.  He allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts in three innings of work.

University Heights will welcome Henderson County to Hopkinsville on Thursday.  It will be the first meeting between the teams since last season’s 11-10 Blazer victory in the 2nd Region semifinals.
