A fixture at the Trigg County High School basketball scorer’s table for over two decades was honored with the Dr. Rudy J. Ellis Distinguished Service Award on Thursday.
Eric and Kerry Sweno received the award at the Kentucky Athletic Administrators’ Association banquet in Louisville.
Eric has been the clock keeper for Trigg County varsity basketball games for over 20 years, while Kerry’s work in keeping the stat book for home games stretches back over 30 years.
In nominating them for the award, Trigg County Athletic Director Doug Gloyd said, “Their steadfast dedication, kindness, and devotion to student-athletes have left a profound mark on Trigg County athletics. Their contributions go far beyond the score sheets. They are true pillars of the community and embody the values of dedication, excellence, and sportsmanship.”
The Dr. Rudy J. Ellis Distinguished Service Awards are presented to individuals, groups, or businesses outside the field of athletic administration in recognition of their service and support of high school athletics within their community and beyond.
The award is named for the late Dr. Rudy J. Ellis of Louisville who was a pioneer in sports medicine in Louisville and throughout the Commonwealth.
