A pair of doubles teams from Madisonville met for the region championship on Wednesday, assuring the school of its first title in seven years.
Noah Mays and Justin Rodgers held off Izaac Bridgman and Jaden Heath 7-5, 6-4 to claim the region title on a breezy wand warm afternoon at Henderson County High School.
Mays and Rodgers entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed and defeated Carson Weiss and Chaz Audas of Henderson County 7-5, 6-4 in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Bridgman and Heath, the No. 4 seed, upset the top seed of Cason Littlejohn and Cade Rowland of Caldwell County 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 in the other semifinal to make it an all-Madisonville championship. It was the first time since 2016 that the same school comprised the doubles championship match.
All four semifinalists will advance to the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament, which will be held May 27-29 in Lexington.
