Cathryn Brown won the 97th Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Women’s Amateur Championship on Wednesday at Nevel Meade Golf Course in Prospect.
The former Lyon County All-State golfer defeated her college roommate and University of Kentucky teammate C.A. Brown 1-up to claim the title.
Carter was 1 up through 14 holes, but Brown birdied consecutive holes on 15 and 16 to grab the lead and held on for the win with pars on 17 and 18.
Her win capped a three-day trip through the competition that began on Monday with a 2-under par 70 to lead the stroke play qualifying round.
Brown defeated Ella Hardy 4 & 3 and Isabella Wiley 3 & 1 in the first two rounds of match play. In the semifinals, she defeated former Marshall County standout and Western Kentucky University golfer Savannah Howell 3 & 1.
Brown recently completed her sophomore season at UK, which saw her named to the 2024-25 SEC Community Service Team. She had two top-10 finishes and three top-20 finishes during the season.
