The Madisonville Miners went into their game on Thursday evening against the Paducah Chiefs looking to get back into the win column after three straight losses. But Paducah’s pitching had a thing or two to say about that.

Hayden Alexander started on the mound for the Chiefs and was able to rack up 12 strikeouts and allow just three hits and no runs in seven innings. He was the key in the Chiefs being able to get a commanding 11-3 win.

As for the Miners’ pitching, Caden Wooldridge made the start, but was only able to pitch 3.2 innings and get three strikeouts. Matt Hotze came in and pitched well, allowing no hits and tallying four strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work.

The Miners weren’t able to score until the top of the eighth inning when they scored on a passed ball. Coulter Hamilton then sent a double to left field, scoring two more runs, making it 6-3.

But the Chiefs were then able to score five more runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead to eight runs and secure the win.

Madisonville will be looking to stop its losing streak at four in its next game on Friday, June 13, against the Hoptown Hoppers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Madisonville City Park.
