Jasper Johnson and Team USA will return home with gold around their necks after claiming the title at the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup with a 109-76 win over Germany in the championship game on Sunday at Lausanne Arena.
The victory completed a perfect 7-0 run for the United States squad in the tournament and gives Team USA its record ninth gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup.
Johnson, an incoming freshman guard for Kentucky, averaged 8.0 points, 1.6 assists and 1.3 rebounds with shooting splits of 46.3 percent from the field and 40.1 percent from 3-point range. He made multiple triples in four of seven contests.
In the group stage against Cameron, Johnson scored 11 points in just 11 minutes of action while going 3 of 5 from behind the 3-point arc. The combo guard then put up a tournament-high 14 points in the semifinal matchup with New Zealand, including three made 3s. In the title game, Johnson was a team-best +26 while on the floor, scoring five points and adding three assists and two rebounds.
Team USA dominated the competition with an average margin of victory of 39 points across seven games.
Johnson has now won gold with Team USA in consecutive summers after playing a part in the win at the 2024 FIBA U19 AmeriCup last year. He was also a part of the USA Men’s Nike Hoop Summit Team earlier this spring that defeated the World Select team, 124-114, in overtime.
