Not much has been able to slow down the Paducah Chiefs lately. Not much but Mother Nature that is. The Chiefs, who saw their 10-game winning streak ended Sunday night with a loss in the first game of a doubleheader with the Full Count Rhythm, were in Madisonville Monday night, looking for their second straight win and 12th in their last 13 games.
But this game belonged to the weather. The Miners and the Chiefs only got in two innings before the game was stopped with Paducah leading 3-2.
Paducah took an early 2-0 lead on a two-run shot over the centerfield fence from Easton Denning, from Volunteer State. Former Lyon County Lyon Gunnar Bingham drove in a run in the top of the second with a sac fly that made it 3-0 Chiefs.
The Miners came back with two runs on a Chiefs’ error and a fielder’s choice to trim the lead to 3-2.
The third inning never got started as stormy weather rolled in from the west and shut things down for the night.
No word as to when the game might be rescheduled.
