The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm got their trip to the mountains for the weekend off to a good start. The Lady Storm took a halftime lead and then the defense took over as Hopkins County Central picked up a 4-1 win over DeKalb County Friday afternoon at Rocky Top Sports World in Gatlinburg.
The Lady Storm got on the board first in this one Lilly Armour scored off an assist from Emma Vandiver to give Central a 1-0 lead.
After DeKalb had even things up, later in the half Jaci Childress scored off the second assist of the day from Emma Vandiver as the Lady Storm went back in front 2-1.
Hopkins Central then took control of the match as the second half got underway. This time Emma Vandiver found the net off an assist from Mary Grace Starks as the lead grew to 3-1.
The scoring closed out with an own goal by DeKalb coming off a corner kick by Mary Grace Starks that made it 4-1 with about ten minutes left in the match.
Hopkins County Central improves to 6-1 and will be back in action Saturday with matches against Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences and Campbell County (TN).
