A pair of top ten finishes helped the Union County cross country team finish second out of 20 teams at Saturday’s Logan County Cougar Run in Russellville.
The event gave schools a chance to see the course that will host next month’s region meet.
Tristan Coy won the event in a time of 16:25 over the 3.1-mile course, edging Apollo’s Asher Alvey by just over a second.
It was Coy’s second win in his past three races and fourth top-three finish of the season.
Sophomore Thomas Davis came in sixth place with a time of 17:08. It was his fifth top 10 finish of the year.
Cameron Davis finished in 21st place in 19:03, one second ahead of teammate Brayden Todd, who came in 23rd place.
Layden Carr was 53rd in 20:23, while Landon Davis was 101st in 22:12. Asher Vinson ran a 22:48 to finish in 109th place.
Henry Humphrey was 120th in 23:27, and Hunter Crowdus rounded out the scoring for Union County with a 129th-place finish in 23:47.
Union County’s 95 points were second only to Apollo and the fewest of any Class 2A team.
