The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers took on the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm in their final regular season game ever, and they were able to get the win three sets to one to end their year with a victory.
Hopkinsville had taken the last two games against Hopkins Central heading into their matchup on Tuesday evening, so they were able to extend their winning streak against the Lady Storm to three games.
The game did not begin how the Lady Tigers would have wanted, as the Lady Storm were able to get their way in the first set. Hopkins Central won it with a score of 25-13, and they did so with their fair share of aces.
But after that it was all Hopkinsville, and the Lady Tigers were able to take the final three sets and win the game 3-1. While they were able to win three straight, they were all close, as the second set was 26-24, the third was 25-21, and the third was 25-23.
Madysen Taggart once again led the Lady Tigers in kills, and she did so with 14. The team’s leader in assists was Kyleigh Weber with 18, and the leader in digs was Lainey Stewart with 8.
Hopkinsville ended their regular season with a 6-20 record, which is not exactly what they would have wanted. But despite that, they will still be looking to make some noise on Monday, October 20, when the 8th District Tournament starts. They will be up against the Lady Blazers of University Heights Academy.
As for the Lady Storm, their regular season is not done yet, and they will play their next game against the Lady Wildcats of Trigg County on Thursday, October 16. Their game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Hopkins County Central.
