Another day in the mountains, another big day for the Lyon County Lady Lyons at the plate. For the second consecutive day, the Lady Lyons won a pair of games with their offense in high gear as they knocked off Westerville North and Barbourville at the Cal Ripken Experience – Pigeon Forge.
In Tuesday’s opening game, Brooklyn Tackett and Ava Prow combined to allow just one run over five innings as Lyon County cruised to an 11-1 win over Westerville North.
Westerville scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning to take a brief 1-0 lead.
Lyon County responded with four runs in the top of the second. Maddie Perry singled with the bases loaded to tie the game at 1-1. Lyon added two runs on a fielder’s choice and error on the same play. The rally was closed out on an RBI single from Audrey Akridge.
The Lady Lyons then put the game away with seven runs in the top of the 5th inning. Lyon had six hits in the inning, including an RBI double from Jenna Coursey.
Ava Prow led the Lady Lyons going 4-4 with an RBI. Maddie Perry finished 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jaylen Tackett was 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Against Barbourville, the Lady Lyons scored in each of their four at-bats as they rang up 17 runs on the way to a 17-2 four-inning win. Lyon County took advantage of seven Barbourville errors in the game.
Barbourville, like earlier in the day, took a brief 1-0 lead. Lyon County answered with three in the bottom of the first and exploded from there. The Lady Lyons added four in the second, eight in the third, and ended the game with two more in the fourth inning.
Nine different Lady Lyons had a hit in the game led by Caitlyn Cissell, who was 2-2 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Addie Guess and Olivia Moore also left the yard for Lyon County (10-3), who won their fourth straight game on the trip to the mountains.
Savannah Padon got the win in the circle for the Lady Lyons. She started the game and went four innings, giving up two runs, one of them earned, on three hits, striking out four, and walking none.
