
BB Rodriguez’s one-out double tied the game and Chloe Almy’s RBI single on the very next pitch put Christian County back in the lead as the Lady Colonels came from behind in their last at bat to take an 8-5 road win at Calloway County Tuesday evening.
Christian County would add runs on an RBI triple from Jayda Turner and a groundout from Talyn Ezell to extend the lead on out to 8-5.
The seventh inning rally came right after Calloway County looked to have things going their way with two runs in the bottom of the sixth that put the Lady Lakers up 5-4.
Alyssa Petterson pitched a hitless bottom of the seventh inning to secure the win for Christian County.
Calloway County came out ready to go in the contest, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first.
Christian County scored a run in the top of the third on an RBI double from Alexis Epps. The Lady Colonels added two runs in the top of the fourth on a fielder’s choice and a wild pitch to go up 3-2.
The Lady Lakers tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Christian County error.
Christian County came right back in the top of the fifth with an RBI single from Chloe Almy to move back up 4-3, setting the stage for the back-and-forth finish.
Another big game for Chloe Almy, who went 4-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Alexis Epps was 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. BB Rodriguez finished the night 2-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored. Jayda Turner went 2-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored.
For the game, Christian County (7-3-1) outhit Calloway County 12 to 8.
In the circle, Alyssa Petterson went the distance for the Lady Colonels, giving up five runs, four of them earned, on 8 hits, striking out three, and walking none.
