After opening the season 10-2, the Caldwell County Tigers are now dealing with a three-game losing skid.

Marshall County hurlers Hayden Gray and Mitchell Reid combined to no-hit the Tigers Monday at the VFW Ballpark in Princeton as the Marshals claimed a 10-0 victory in five innings.

Marshall (10-4) also beat Caldwell 10-0 in Draffenville in the season opener.

The Tigers (10-5) have now dropped consecutive games with University Heights Academy, Henderson County and Marshall County.

Gray went the first three innings, striking out two and walking two.

Reid tossed the final two innings, fanning three.

Marshall recorded five base hits in the contest, but Caldwell was especially hurt by four key errors.

None of the Marshals’ runs were earned. Tiger starter Presten Alfred went the first four innings, striking out seven and walking four while allowing five hits.

Two bases-loaded walks and a wild pitch allowed Marshall to score three times in the top of the first inning with just one single.

Hudson Doughty slammed a two-run home run off the scoreboard in right field with two outs in the second inning to make it 5-0.

Five runs in the fourth helped Marshall put the game away. Kannon Dunn doubled home a run while Luke Turner and Kaden Merrick each added two-run singles.

Dunn finished 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Marshall has now taken three straight from Caldwell.

The Marshals lead the all-time series 35-18.

Caldwell plays again on Thursday when it visits Calloway County.
