The Christian County Lady Colonels brought home a top-five team finish at Saturday’s Daviess County Invitational.
The Lady Colonels were paced on the track by senior Symeria Brown, who placed in three individual events. Brown was third in the 100-meter dash in 13.24, fourth in the 200 meters in 28.36, and third in the 400 meters in 1:03.38.
Also in the girls’ 100, Jazmyn Rodriguez finished fourth in 13.31, and Kacsidy Quarles was 13th in 14.25.
In the 200, Rodriguez placed 10th in 29.78, and Jakiyah Oatts was 13th in 30.65.
In the hurdles, Saniyah McCombs finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 21.19. In the 300-meter hurdles, Aaliyah Bell placed 10th in 59.62, while McCombs was 13th in 1:13.53.
In the 400, Shyla Haverstick was ninth in 1:09.13, and Zaria Johnson was 13th in 1:15.17 behind Brown’s third-place run. Aubree Cline was the lone Lady Colonel in the 800 and finished 14th in 3:06.30.
Christian County’s girls also turned in a solid relay day. The 400 team of Jazmyn Rodriguez, Genesis McGee, Adreyona Smith, and Kacsidy Quarles finished fifth in 54.15.
The 800 team of Rodriguez, Jakiyah Oatts, Symeria Brown, and Aaliyah Bell placed fourth in 1:56.22. The 1600 relay team of Shyla Haverstick, Aaliyah Bell, Jakiyah Oatts, and Zaria Johnson took third in 5:08.17.
Kaliyah Leavell placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 11-3.
In the triple jump, Aaliyah Bell turned in a third-place finish at 29-3, while Leavell was eighth at 23-9.
In the discus, Adreyona Smith led the way with a runner-up finish at 92-8. Genesis McGee was fourth at 87-4, and Carlie Hobson finished fifth at 77-10, giving Christian County three top-five placers.
In the shot put, Carliah Hobson placed fifth with a throw of 26-5, while Carlie Hobson was sixth at 26-4.50.
As a team, Christian County scored 71 points to place fifth behind Owensboro (146), Daviess County (138), Hopkinsville (95), and Marshall County (81).
