The Todd County Central softball team went into their Monday evening game against Jo Byrns having won back-to-back games. Despite the potential bad weather looming, the Lady Rebels were able to take advantage of their home field and get the 11-0 win in five innings.
Todd Central got started immediately in the home half of the first inning with six runs. The team was able to draw a pair of walks with the bases loaded, while Olivia Weikel and Naomi Gammon were able to pick up key base knocks to give the Lady Rebels an early 6-0 lead.
There were a couple of scoreless innings for both teams after that, but Todd County Central was able to get back on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Ella Hall and Bailey Harper both hit singles, and the rest of the team was able to capitalize on some mistakes from Jo Byrns to take an 11-0 lead and invoke the mercy rule after five innings.
Weikel got the start on the mound for the Lady Rebels, and she was able to pitch all five innings. She allowed just three hits on her way to tallying four strikeouts.
Gammon led the way for Todd Central with three base knocks, while Welborn and Harper were also both able to finish the game with a pair of runs batted in.
The Lady Rebels will get their chance to get their fourth straight win on Tuesday, April 28, against the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats. Weather permitting, their game will begin at 6 p.m. at Todd County Central.
