With her announcement coming back in March, Alexis Herrera made it official Wednesday afternoon, signing to run track and cross country at Georgetown College. She signed her letter of intent during a ceremony at Hopkinsville High School.

Herrera has been a strong middle‑distance competitor for Hopkinsville’s track program. Last spring, she qualified for the Class 2A state meet after finishing second in the 800‑meter run, where she placed 12th at the state meet. She has also been a key contributor in Hopkinsville’s middle‑distance relay events.

In cross country, Herrera earned trips to the state meet in multiple seasons. As a junior, she finished eighth at the Class 2A region meet and went on to place 46th at state. Last fall, she placed seventh at region, setting a personal‑best time of 21:36 over the 3.1-mile course and finished 55th at the Class 2A state meet.

She talked about getting the chance to go on during an interview with YSE.
