Maroons Blank Lyon County to End Two-Game Slide

Madisonville-North Hopkins put a two-game hiccup behind it with an 8-0 victory over hosts Lyon County on Thursday, the Maroons’ sixth win in the last eight outings.

Blake Prow was strong on the mound en route to his fourth win of the season, scattering three hits with five strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.

Jaziyon Latham got the Maroons started with an RBI single in the bottom of the 1st before Prow helped himself with a two-run single to stretch the lead to 3-0 after two.

Ryder Sandidge’s bases-loaded double blew the game open in the 3rd, and Prow followed with a single to plate Sandidge for a 7-0 advantage.

Latham added his second RBI to round out the scoring in the 4th. Prow had two hits and drove in three runs, Sandidge finished with three RBI, and Alex Richards, Hayden Cole, and Evan Wilson each collected two hits for the Maroons.

Hudson Phillips had two of the Lyons’ three hits. Phillips also took the loss on the mound, giving up seven earned runs on nine hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts over two and two-thirds.

Lyon County lost its third in a row to slip to 8-12 ahead of a trip to Caldwell County on Friday.

Madisonville improved to 13-9 and will play host to Livingston Central on Friday.
