
A seventh inning rally came up just short with the tying run in scoring position as the Todd County Central Lady Rebels fell 7-6 to Muhlenberg County Friday night in Elkton.
The Lady Rebels entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 7-3 as the comeback got started.
With one out, Naomi Welborn doubled to center. After Olivia Weikel singled to give the Lady Rebels runners on the corners. Abigail Choate singled to make it 7-4. Bailey Harper singled and the lead was down to 7-5.
Isabelle Hightower walked to load the bases. Maddison Wade singled to pull Todd County Central to within one.
But, just as it appeared the Lady Rebels were on the verge of a comeback win, Naomi Gammon popped up into a double play, and just like that, the threat and the game came to an end.
Bailey Harper with a big game for the Lady Rebels, going 3-4 with an RBI. Naomi Welborn and Olivia Weikel were each 2-4 with Weikel adding two RBIs.
Both teams had 11 hits for the night.
Addison Woodall got the start for the Lady Rebels in the circle, going 3 ⅓ innings, giving up three runs, on six hits, striking out two, and walking two.
