Caldwell County’s guys came back from the regional track meet with a trophy for the third-straight year.
Since moving to the Class A ranks from 2A in 2024, the Tigers have been runners-up in the Region 1 Track and Field Championships every year. Saturday, they placed second to Fort Campbell in action at Mayfield High School.
Caldwell tallied 109 points to trail only the Falcons (143). Murray (90) took third, with University Heights Academy (58) fourth and Dawson Springs (52) fifth.
The Tigers won just one event in the regional, but added up points with seven runner-up finishes.
Caldwell won the 4×100-meter relay by .24 seconds, with Shane Fairrow running a strong last leg. Other team members are Colson Mattocks, Daelyn Lander and Zy Rollins. The Tigers took the event in a time of 44.30 seconds.
Jackson Risley took second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.90 seconds.
Risley was also second in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.82 seconds.
The Tigers were runners-up in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:32.20. Team members are Max Heaton, Zy Rollins, Tre Copeland and Shane Fairrow.
The 4×400-meter relay team of Jaden Boyd, Risley, Copeland and Donovan Rogers took second in 3:44.41.
Cooper Mobley was second in the shot put with a distance of 50 feet, 9 inches.
Mobley also placed second in the discus at 144 feet, 9 inches.
Heaton captured second in the triple jump at 39 feet, 8 inches.
Heaton placed third in the 110 hurdles in 16.14.
Heaton also was third in the long jump at 19 feet, 3 inches.
Fairrow was third in the 100-meter dash in 11.21 seconds.
Jonah Crim took third in the 300 hurdles in 44.34 seconds.
The 4×800 relay team of Hoayang Wu, Jacob Forsythe, James Phelps and Evan Ramage was fourth in 9:16.31.
Mattocks placed fourth in the long jump at 18 feet, 10 inches.
Boyd was fourth in the high jup at 5 feet, 4 inches.
Boyd was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 55.95 seconds.
Rollins finished fifth in the 100 dash in 11.71 seconds.
Risley took fifth in the triple jump at 37 feet, 6 inches.
Ramage placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run in 11:37.75.
Ethan Lane was seventh in the discus at 106 feet, 9 inches.
Johnathon Adams was ninth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:27.99.
Phelps was ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:28.13.
Rollins was 10th in the 200-meter dash in 26.06 seconds.
Dillon Samuels was 10th in the shot put at 32 feet, 11 inches.
Isaac Dalton was 11th in the 1,600 run in 5:32.06.
Wu finished 14th in the 800 in 2:37.42.
The top two finishers in each event advance to the Class A state meet in Lexington. The next 10 top finishers from across the state in each event earn a trip to state as well.
The 2026 KHSAA State Track & Field Championships presented by UK HealthCare will be held at the University of Kentucky May 21-23. The Class A meet is set for Thursday, May 21.
