The Lyon County and Livingston Central softball teams had both won their last games going into their Monday evening matchup against one another. But it was the Lady Lyons who were able to go on the road and get the hard-fought 14-11 win over the Lady Cardinals.
Lyon took a quick 5-1 lead after the first couple of innings, but Livingston Central was able to have a huge bottom of the third and take an 8-5 lead.
Lyon tied it up with help from a Olivia Moore double and an Emma Brasher single, and they kept pouring it on. Three more runs came in the top of the fifth, and Moore and Ava Prow hit singles while Brooklyn Tackett hit a double to give the Lady Lyons a 14-8 lead.
The Lady Cardinals scored three more runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth, but Lyon was able to close it out with their pitching in the seventh inning to get their second win in a row.
Moore and Courtney Collins tore it up at the plate for Lyon with four base knocks apiece, and Moore had four runs batted in to go along with those hits. Prow also had three hits to her name, while Jaylen Tackett had a pair of RBIs.
The Lady Lyons will be looking for their third straight win in their next game against Paducah Tilghman on the road. That game will be the first in a double-header on Saturday, May 16, and will close out Lyon’s regular season.
First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
