Anna Boone’s one-out double in the top of the seventh drove in the game-winning run as the Crittenden County Lady Rockets upended Madisonville-North Hopkins 3-2 Thursday night on the Lady Maroons home field.
Boone’s game-winning hit was set up by a one-out single from Elliot Evans and a fielder’s choice from Andrea Federico.
The Lady Maroons had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. Kylie Watkins led off the inning with a double, followed by a single from Audrey Collins. Sydney Skeen was then walked to load the bases with no one out to set up the force play at the plate, and give Coach Chris Evans credit, that decision ended up winning the game for the Lady Rockets.
Madisonville hit into two straight force plays at the plate and then a grounder back to the pitcher to end the inning as the Lady Maroons could not scratch out the game-tying run.
Crittenden County took the early lead in the game with a run in the top of the third. The Lady Maroons came back to tie it in the bottom of the fourth on a homer from Maggie Killough.
The Lady Rockets went back in front with a run in the top of the fifth. Madisonville tied it up again on an RBI single from Nevaeh Lindle in the bottom of the sixth.
Nevaeh Lindle led the Lady Maroons, going 2-3 at the plate with a double. Maggie Killough was 1-4 with a home run.
Sadie Kirk got the start in the circle and went all seven innings, giving up three runs, two of them earned, on eight hits, striking out six and walking one.
