Hopkins Central Track and Field Take 8th at Region

Hopkins County Central High School turned in an 8th-place finish at the Class 2A Region 1 Meet on Tuesday at Calloway County High School.

Jamir Crawford paced the Storm in the sprint events, finishing fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.80 seconds. Kaleb Hanks-Adams added a 10th-place finish at 12.36.

Crawford later placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 24.88 seconds, while Hanks-Adams finished eighth at 25.69.

In the 400-meter dash, Tyshawn Hendrix placed 12th with a time of 57.88 seconds.

Hopkins County Central’s distance runners also competed well throughout the meet. Devin Driver finished 11th in the 800-meter run at 2:51.49.

Jaxon Adcock placed 10th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:31.63, while Daniel Knight finished 13th at 6:19.96.

In the hurdle events, Ryan Allen earned an eighth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.09 seconds. Driver later added a ninth-place finish in the same event at 57.06.

The Storm’s 800-meter relay team placed sixth overall with a time of 1:41.86.

In the field events, Elijah Trejo cleared 5 feet, 4 inches to finish fifth in the high jump.

Bradley Webster turned in a pair of top-10 finishes, placing eighth in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 2 inches and ninth in the triple jump at 34 feet, 4.25 inches.

Zach Demoss placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 82 feet, 5 inches and also finished eighth in the shot put at 32 feet, 2 inches.

Ronnie Banks added a 10th-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 31 feet, 3.25 inches.

The top two finishers in each event qualify for the Class 2A State Meet on Friday, May 22 at the University of Kentucky. The next 10 times/distances/heights statewide will also qualify.
