A single big inning proved decisive on Thursday in a pitcher’s duel between McCracken County and visiting Trigg County, with the Lady Mustangs breaking through in the 5th to down the Lady Wildcats 4-0. Trigg County failed to score for only the second time this season, dropping to 25-8 with a third loss in the last four games.

Trigg County’s Tember Oliver allowed a single baserunner over the first four innings before getting into trouble after a single and a double to start the bottom of the 5th. Kennedy Brewer delivered an RBI single to open the scoring, and Alyssa Knight followed with a three-run triple to give the Lady Mustangs a 4-0 lead.

McCracken’s Addison Dudley scattered four hits over seven innings with three strikeouts to earn the win in the circle. The Lady Wildcats threatened in the top of the 2nd, with a Livia Breckel double followed by a Lady Mustang error to put runners on first and third in the 2nd. Breckel also led off the 7th with a single, but the Lady Wildcats failed to put a runner in scoring position.

Oliver took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts over five and a third. Lily Eagleson recorded the final two outs for the Lady Wildcats.

Trigg County will be on the road again on Friday to face Paducah Tilghman before matchups with Massac County, IL and the host Lady Marshals at the MCHS Bash.
