Maroons Walk Off Home Field Win Over Henderson County

game-36-5

Blake Prow beat the throw to home and scored from third on a one-out grounder as the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons walked off an 8-7 win over the Henderson County Colonels Thursday night at Elmer Kelley Stadium.

The win was the fourth in the last five games for the Maroons and was their third straight over Henderson County.

The stage was set for the final play when Prow opened the inning with a double and then moved over to third on a hit from Alex Richards. After a ground out, Brantley Harris hit a ground ball to second that allowed Prow to come home with the game-winner.

The Maroons looked to have the game in hand earlier in the evening. Madisonville led 7-3 after four innings. Henderson then scored three in the top of the fifth and tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh.

A big night for Alex Richards, who went 4-4 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Blake Prow was 2-3 with a double and three runs scored.

On the mound, Evan Lear got the start but did not get the decision. He went five innings, giving up six runs on six hits, striking out six and walking two. Brantley Harris pitched the final two innings to get the win, giving up one run on one hit, striking out none and walking two.
