Going into their game against one another on Thursday evening, the Christian County Colonels had lost their last game, while the Trigg County Wildcats had won their last one. Neither of those trends kept going, as the Colonels were able to get the 11-1 win on their final senior night.

Trigg struck in the top of the first inning with a single from Aaden Allen, but Christian County was able to come right back four runs of their own in the home half of the first.

The Colonels kept the scoring going in the second, and that inning was headlined by a solo home run to left field off the bat of Chase Fort.

Five more unanswered runs from Christian County in the third and fourth inning were to enough to put them up 11-1, and all they had to do was pitch well in the top of the fifth in order to pull off the mercy rule victory. And they were able to do just that.

Senior Andrew Fincham got the start on the mound for the Colonels, and he was able to tally four strikeouts while allowing just one hit in his five innings of work.

Allen’s RBI single in the first inning was Trigg’s only hit in the game, while Fort led the way for the Colonels going three for three with a pair of RBIs of his own.

This was Trigg’s last game of their regular season, so they will be hoping to get back in the win column in the 5th District Tournament against the Crittenden County Rockets. The game will be played at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at the Trigg County Recreational Complex.

As for the Colonels, they will be hoping to continue their win streak as their regular season continues on Friday, May 15, against McLean County. Their game will begin at 6 p.m. at McLean County High School.
