The Hoptown Hoppers and the Full Count Rhythm both went into their game against one another on Tuesday evening having not lost a game yet in the new OVL season. Unfortunately for the Hoppers, the Rhythm were able to take control of their home field and give Hoptown their first loss with a score of 10-2.

Hoptown struck first in the top of the second inning when Cole Reynolds grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Caden Slaughter from third base. It was then followed up by Kade Wall scoring on a passed ball, which made it 2-0 in favor of the Hoppers.

Unfortunately for Hoptown, that was all of the runs they were able to get in the game, and Full Count immediately took the lead in the bottom of the second with four runs. And they didn’t stop.

They scored two more runs in the bottom of the third, one more in the fourth, and after a couple of scoreless innings, added three more in the bottom of the seventh for good measure. This made the score 10-2, and helped the Rhythm close out the game and remain undefeated.

Reynolds had the team’s lone RBI, as well as a base hit, while Reed Hayes also led the way in the game for the team with two base knocks of his own.

The Hoppers will be looking to bounce right back in their next game on Thursday, June 4, against the Madisonville Miners on the road. First pitch of their game will be at 6:30 p.m.
