The 2nd Region will have a new volleyball team taking to the court this fall. With official approval granted Monday by the Lyon County Board of Education, the Lyon County Lady Lyons will compete in the sport for the first time this fall.
The addition of Lyon County will bring the number of teams in the region to fourteen, leaving Dawson Springs as the only school in the region to not compete in girls volleyball.
Additionally, the Lady Lyons will become the 8th team to compete in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
Lyon County will officially open the 2026 volleyball season August 17 at home against Union County. Included in the inaugural schedule will be matches against Paducah Tilghman, Graves County, Caldwell County, and Hopkins County Central. The Lady Lyons will also have their district matches against Trigg County, Livingston Central, and Crittenden County.
The Lady Lyons will also make appearances in the Christian County tournament, the Apollo Summer Slam, and the Henderson County tournament.
Athletic Director Jeremy Tackett says the search for a head coach for Lyon County will begin immediately.
