Ryan Luckey recently completed his high school athletic career at University Heights Academy as a busy multi-sport athlete.
He was a key part of UHA’s All A Classic state baseball championship squad while doing double duty on the track and field team.
Luckey, who has signed to play baseball at Brescia University, hit .304 for the Blazers with 17 RBI and a team-high 26 walks from the leadoff position.
He was part of a senior class that helped lead the Blazers to their first region baseball championship and a win at the KHSAA state tournament.
While playing baseball, Luckey also competed in three track and field meets in the spring, specializing in the sprint events. He finished fourth at the Class 1A region meet in both the 200 and 400 meters and had state-qualifying times in line to compete at the state meet. However, the state track meet timetable came during the district tournament for baseball which kept Luckey from running in Lexington.
Luckey talked about splitting his spring season between sports as well as the sport he thinks he could excel at if given the chance.

This is a highly talented young man supporting his teams to the best of his abilities I am very proud of him. The need for the schools and state to schedule all of their Championships, district to State, in all sports on dates that don't conflict would help. Cooperation between sports is need. UHA has done a very good job. Its what all coaches at the next level look for as the versatility they want. We want more young athletes to get scholarships and get degrees to improve their lives.
