The Hoptown Hoppers had won their last two games going into their matchup against the Full Count Rhythm on Wednesday evening. Despite beating the Rhythm in their last game, Full Count was able to best Hoptown 7-6 at home.
Hoptown got started early in the top of the first inning withe four runs to take control early. Those runs came a walk with the bases loaded, a Gavin Powell single, and finally a double from Easton Beaty.
They then followed that up with an RBI single from Brennan Mealer to make it 5-0, but the Rhythm scored five straight runs from the second to the fourth inning to tie the game up at five runs apiece.
Hayden Hunt was able to score on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning to give the Hoppers the lead again, but Full Count answered back with two more to take the lead back. And after their pitching was able to limit the Hoppers’ offense in the last couple innings, the Rhythm got the win at home.
Evan Jacob and Beaty each finished the game with three base hits, while the latter was able to lead the Hoppers in RBIs with a pair.
Hoptown will be hoping that they can bounce right back in their next game on Friday, July 3, at home against the Madisonville Miners. First pitch of their game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Hopkinsville High School.
