With the first game in program history just over a month away, Lyon County High School has named the first head coach and assistant coach for the Lady Lyon volleyball team.
School officials announced Wednesday afternoon that Cara Hunt has been named the first head coach of the Lyon County High School Volleyball team as they prepare for our inaugural season, while Kim Coffman has been named the first assistant coach.
Hunt currently serves as a Physical Education teacher at Lyon County High School. She has five years of experience as a high school head volleyball coach, leading the Crittenden County Lady Rockets from 2014–2018 and serving as the head coach at Campbell County in 2021. In 2018, she was recognized as the 2nd Region Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Coffman is both a former high school head volleyball coach and one of the most accomplished collegiate volleyball players in University of Southern Indiana history. During her standout career at the University of Southern Indiana from 2000-2003, Coffman was named GLVC Freshman of the Year in 2000.
She was a four-time All-GLVC selection, a three-time All-Region honoree as a sophomore, junior, and senior, and was named an AVCA All-American. Coffman was inducted into the University of Southern Indiana Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
