Six runs in the top of the seventh inning by Henderson County turned out to be the final nail in the coffin for the Madisonville Miners season Saturday night. The Henderson Flash mercy-ruled the Miners for the second straight game with a 12-2 seven-inning win at Elmer Kelley Stadium.
The win gave the Flash a sweep of the two-game series with a total run margin of 35-4.
Henderson combined two singles with a pair of walks in the top of the third inning to take the first lead of the night, and the lead for good, going up 3-0.
Trent Prosperi’s two run homer to center in the bottom of the fourth gave the Madisonville fans temporary hope as the Miners cut the lead to 3-2.
The Flash then went about the business of sealing the series with a run in the fifth, two in the sixth, and then dropped the hammer with six runs in the top of the seventh inning.
After getting six solid innings from Payton Helmerich, Henderson turned to Luke Parr to try and close out the win and advance the Flash to the championship series.
Parr gave up a walk and a double with two outs, but then came up with his third strikeout of the inning as the Madisonville season came to an end.
Trent Prosperi lead the Miners, going 2-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Mason Schneider ended up 2-2 with a run scored.
For the game, the Miners were outhit by the Flash 14 to 6.
