Three different Caldwell County Lady Tigers had two-goal nights as Caldwell ended Monday night’s season opener at Lyon County on the mercy rule in the 61st minute.
Mariah Vickery, Madison Jones and Kiya Sears each found the net twice for the Lady Tigers. Each also had an assist.
Nunie Bates and McKenna Jones scored once apiece. Jones also had an assist.
Vickery got behind the defense for the match’s first goal in the 13th minute. She ran on to a through ball and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one to break the ice.
Vickery then assisted on a goal by Kiya Sears in front of the net just 2 minutes later to make it 2-0.
Madison Jones got her first goal in the 29th minute to make it 3-0. Willow VanHooser assisted on that goal — one of three helpers in the contest for VanHooser.
Bates scored on a long blast in the 35th minute and the Lady Tigers were well on their way to a season-opening victory.
Maddie Boyd also had an assist for Caldwell.
Shylee Hinchee was rarely tested in the Caldwell net while picking up the shutout. She was credited with one save.
The Lady Tigers have won their last seven meetings with Lyon. Caldwell’s girls now lead the all-time series 40-11-3.
The Lady Tigers will be in action again on Tuesday when they host Trigg County at Butler Stadium. Only a varsity match will be played, starting at 6:00.
Meanwhile, Lyon’s girls will next travel to Trigg County on Thursday.
