Kendall Hancock scored twice and Harper Bolinger provided a pair of assists to lead the host University Heights Academy Lady Blazers to a 7-0 victory over Trigg County on Friday night at Givens Field.
UHA was in the lead inside the opening minute when Hancock found the back of the net off an assist from Amoree Owen, before finishing off her brace 13 minutes later with a goal off a pass from Bolinger.
After Hancock’s cross was turned into their own net by a Lady Wildcat defender to make it 3-0, Owen got on the scoresheet when she cleaned up a loose ball from close range after Hancock’s shot from outside the box was saved.
After the halftime break, Gracie Ausenbaugh put the Lady Blazers in front 5-0 with a goal after a corner kick, but UHA would have to wait just over 20 minutes to extend their lead. Willow Johnson added the sixth after she got on the end of a long cross from Bolinger, and Emma Flynn closed out the scoring when her cross found its way past the Trigg goalkeeper after it struck a Lady Wildcat defender.
UHA’s Madison Williams earned her fourth shutout, making three saves early on to deny the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Blazers held an 18-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Trigg County slipped to 3-3 with its first shutout loss of the season. The Lady Wildcats will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to the Stadium of Champions to face Christian County.
The Lady Blazers bounced back from their first defeat, a 4-1 setback at South Warren on Saturday, to improve to 4-1. Up next is a trip to Mayfield on September 8 before a tantalizing matchup with hosts Henderson County two days later.
