It took exactly 29 seconds for Fort Campbell to set the tone Friday night.

On Todd County Central’s opening drive, the Falcons’ pass rush caved in the pocket, stripped the ball loose, and senior Julius Jessup scooped up the fumble for a 20-yard walk into the end zone.

That opening defensive strike set off a physical, high-attrition night as Fort Campbell pulled away for a 44-12 victory over the Rebels, snapping a two-game skid and moving to 2-3 on the season. The win marks Fort Campbell’s fourth straight over Todd County (0-5) and its 12th in the last 14 meetings.

The Rebels didn’t go away quietly early on. Later in the first quarter, Todd County’s ZiKavion Martin bounced off a pair of tackles at the line of scrimmage, hit the sideline, and outran the secondary for a 58-yard touchdown.

Fort Campbell’s offense then stumbled, coughing up fumbles on consecutive 1st and 2nd down plays. Facing 4th-and-3, quarterback Isaiah Messer Cruz stepped up and dropped a pass over the defense to Levi Kruse, who took the go-route 59 yards to the house.

The Falcons reclaimed the lead and never looked back.

Leading 20-12 in the third quarter, Fort Campbell leaned heavily on the ground game to slam the door. The Falcons fed Hayden Wise five straight times on the drive, capped off when the senior back broke four tackles as he punished his way into the end zone from 9 yards out.

Wise added a 30-yard touchdown burst in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach, finishing a workhorse night with 206 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.

It wasn’t pretty football down the stretch—the teams combined for 21 penalties and five turnovers, four of which were committed by Todd County. But the Falcons owned the line of scrimmage when it mattered, outgaining the Rebels 324-214 in total offense.

Fort Campbell returns home next Friday to host Caldwell County, while Todd County Central travels to face Mayfield.
