When the ball goes in the basket with regularity, tis much easier to be successful on the basketball court. Both the Christian County Colonels and the University Heights Academy Blazers can attest to that after their matchup Saturday afternoon. Shots fell with frequency for the Colonels, while the Blazers had trouble getting the ball to go through the nets as Christian County rolled to an 84-59 win over the Blazers in Colonel Gym.
The win for Christian County avenges a 77-62 loss to University Heights last Friday night.
Christian County knocked down seven 3-pointers for the afternoon, six of those coming from Jordan Miles, who was more than a handful for the Blazer defense, scoring 34 points.
It was a game where the Colonels never trailed. Christian County scored the first eight points of the game. UHA twice cut the lead to 3 points in the first quarter but found themselves trailing 16-10 when the quarter ended.
An 11 to 3 spurt to open the second quarter moved the lead out to 27-13 and the Blazers would never again be inside of double-digits the rest of the contest. Christian County’s offense, led by Jordan Miles and Derrell Bateman, continued to click, while the Blazers must have felt like their was a lid on their basket.
At the half, Christian County was on the positive side of a 39-24 game. Jordan Miles had one of his best halves of the season with 21 points to lead the Colonels at the break.
As the second half got started, Miles, Bateman, and Theo Quarles helped keep the pressure on as the Colonels ran out to an 18-point lead at 49-31.
To their credit, the Blazers fought back to within 10 points by the end of the third at 56-46, getting some big plays from Elijah Walton and Gavin Grubbs.
But that would be as close as it got, as Christian County pulled away for the 25-point win over the last 8 minutes of the game.
Christian County’s Jordan Miles led all scorers in the game with 34 points. Derrell Bateman added 17 for the Colonels.
Gavin Grubbs was the leading scorer for University Heights with 19 points. A free throw with seven minutes left in the game gave Grubbs his 1000th career point. Elijah Walton was the only other Blazer to hit double figures with 15.
Christian County improves to 9-14 with the win. The Colonels host Fort Campbell next Thursday.
University Heights drops to 15-5 with the loss, which was just the second in their last 12 games. The Blazers host Fort Campbell Monday night.

Probably because in the game they played against each other before one of the players had a seizure on court after a dunk and is out til the region, and he is the best player on the team, UHA is a better team they are just missing a player who almost died on court
