The University Heights Academy Blazers are headed back to the 8th District championship match for the 8th consecutive season. The Blazers advanced with a 7-0 win over the Fort Campbell Falcons in the district semifinals Tuesday night at Givens Field.

The win was the third shutout win for the Blazers over the Falcons this season. In those three matches, UHA outscored Fort Campbell 13-0.

Much like the two previous matches, the Blazer defense just did not allow the Falcons to get shot opportunities. Fort Campbell managed just two shots on goal in Tuesday night’s loss. Meanwhile, Fort Campbell goalie John Arnold had to feel like he was target practice for the Blazers who finished the night with 32 shots.

Fort Campbell held the Blazers in check until about midway through the first half and then the roof began to cave in. Cal Givens scored off a ball that deflected off a Fort Campbell defender to put UHA up 1-0.

The Blazers would score twice more in the opening half to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

UHA added four goals in the first 22 minutes of the second half to put the match away.

Hayden Hunt led the Blazer attack with three goals. Cal Givens and Griffin McCoy added two goals each.

University Heights goes to 14-7-0 with the win, while Fort Campbell ends the season at 8-9-2.

The Blazers move on to Thursday night’s championship match, where they will take on Christian County. The Colonels knocked off Hopkinsville 2-1 in Tuesday night’s second semifinal.
