Colonels’ 2025 Football Schedule Features A State Champ and State Runner-Up

Christian County’s 2025 football schedule features four home games and four straight road games to conclude the campaign.

The Colonels open the season at the Stadium of Champions on Saturday, August 23, against Clarksville Northeast. The Class 6A Eagles were 1-9 last year. The schools are familiar with one another, usually meeting in preseason jamborees in the past at Clarksville or Fort Campbell.

Christian County will play at Mayfield on Aug. 29. Mayfield finished last season 9-3, marking the first time since 2021 the Cardinals weren’t playing for the state championship.

The last meeting between the schools was a 72-8 Mayfield victory in 2023.

The next two games on the Colonels’ schedule are also at home – Sept. 5 with McKenzie, Tennessee, and Sept. 12 against Daviess County.

Christian County’s lone win in 2024 came against Daviess County by a 12-10 score, and the Colonels have won five of the last six meetings with the Panthers.

McKenzie was 13-1 last year and advanced to the Tennessee 1A state semifinals.

The Colonels will have a bye week on Sept 19.

Christian County will travel to Caverna on Sept. 26 the play the Purple Colonels in the land of concrete wigwams in the first of four straight road games. The Class 1A Colonels were 6-5 last year.

The Colonels will play at South Pittsburg, Tennessee, on Oct. 3. The Class 1A Pirates were 12-3 and lost in the state championship game last year.

Christian County will compete in Class 6A District along with Henderson County (4-7), McCracken County (6-6), and Hopkinsville (3-7). The Tigers are competing in the 6A district for 2025 only as Hopkinsville and Christian County are expected to combine ahead of the 2026-27 school year. The new school will play Christian County’s schedule in 2026.

Christian County will play at Henderson County on Oct 10 and at McCracken County on Oct. 17.

What is expected to be the final cross-town matchup between Christian County and Hopkinsville will be played at the Stadium of Champions on Oct. 24.

The Colonels will wrap up the regular season at reigning Class 4A state champion Paducah Tilghman on Halloween. Tilghman won the last meeting between the schools in 2018.

The Colonels were 1-10 in 2024 under first-year coach Ethan Atchey.
