Early Blitz Sends Caldwell County Past Lady Wildcats

2-9-darnall

Trigg County hasn’t had much luck beating Caldwell County in Princeton. In fact, Michael Bolton had the No. 1 song on the charts and Driving Miss Daisy was the top movie the last time it happened.  It was January 23, 1990. Trigg has lost 25 straight games to the Lady Tigers in Princeton since then.

If the Lady Wildcats had any hope of ending the streak, Caldwell County quickly stomped those hopes with a 23-0 run that saw Trigg go 7:30 without scoring a point.

The Lady Tigers hit 12-of-16 shots in the first quarter and 20-of-32 shots in the first half as they built a 26-4 lead after one quarter and led 48-15 by halftime.

Jacey Jaggers hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points and four assists. Jada Boyd hit 8-of-11 shots and finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. Lucy Goffinet also reached double figures with 11 points.

Lauren Oliver led Trigg County with 17 points and 16 rebounds as she closes in on 1,000 career points. Adri Phillips added three points.

Caldwell County (12-11) snapped a five-game losing streak with the win and will play at Ohio County Monday.

Trigg County (7-15) has dropped eight of nine games and will play at St. Mary Monday.
