Second Region Girls’ Soccer Rankings (Week 4)

Here are the YourSportsEdge.com 2nd Region girls’ soccer rankings for the week ending September 3rd.

 

1.  Henderson County Lady Colonels (5-1-1)

The Lady Colonels hold on to the top spot this week after a win and a loss last week.  Henderson handed 3rd ranked Madisonville its only loss of the season, picking up a 2-0 result at home.  The Lady Colonels were given their only loss of the season later in the week when they lost 3-2 at home to Daviess County (7-2).  Henderson has a full week coming up with three matches, including a big 2nd Region matchup with 3rd ranked Hopkinsville (4-2) at the Stadium of Champions.

 

2.  University Heights Academy Lady Blazers (4-0)

After having last week off, the Lady Blazers will be busy this week with two matches, although none against 2nd Region competition.  The Lady Blazers start the week visiting 5-3 Ohio County before hosting Bowling Green (5-0) on Thursday.  Both matches will provide the Lady Blazers with stiff challenges that will give them an idea of where they stand at this point in the season.

 

3.  Hopkinsville Lady Tigers (4-2)

The Lady Tigers began last week with their second loss of the season, a 5-0 setback at home to Ohio County (5-3).  Hopkinsville bounced back later in the week with a 4-1 win over 8th District rival, 12th ranked Christian County (1-5).  The Lady Tigers will face two difficult matches this week, traveling to 5-2 Marshall County and hosting top ranked Henderson County (5-1-1) on Thursday.

 

4.  Caldwell County Lady Tigers (4-3)

The Lady Tigers split a pair of matches last week, beating St. Mary (5-4) on the road 7-0 and losing at home 3-0 to Graves County (2-2).  There isn’t any let up from what has been a tough schedule for Caldwell as they face three strong teams this week.  First up is a 7th District clash with 5th ranked Madisonville-North Hopkins (3-1-2) that will start to untangle the top half of the 2nd Region rankings. Daunting trips to Daviess County (7-2) and Evansville Reitz will round out the Lady Tigers’ week.

 

5.  Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons (3-1-2)

The Lady Maroons were handed their first loss of the season 2-0 against top ranked Henderson County and followed that up with a draw at home with the Apollo E-Gals (4-4-2).  Their week begins with a big match at 4th ranked Caldwell County (4-3) that will have both district and region ramifications.  On Thursday, the Lady Maroons will welcome 12th ranked Fort Campbell (1-5).

 

6.  Hopkins County Central Lady Storm (3-2)

Hopkins Central enjoyed a rather easy week, winning on the road 10-0 against Butler County (1-3) and 9-1 against 8th ranked Union County (5-3).  The Lady Storm have two 2nd Region matches on the slate for this week, hosting 11th ranked Crittenden County (2-3) and hitting the road for an interesting match with 7th ranked Trigg County (4-3) on Thursday.

 

7.  Trigg County Lady Wildcats (4-3)

After four straight wins, Trigg County holds steady in the rankings this week, just like the six teams in front of them.  The Lady Wildcats only had one match last week, but they took care of business winning 8-2 over 10th ranked Lyon County (1-6) in Eddyville.  After the cancellation of a match at Todd County Central (4-1), the Lady Wildcats will have a second straight week with only one match, but it’s a big one as they host 6th ranked Hopkins County Central (3-2) at the Recreation Complex.

 

8.  Union County Bravettes (5-3)

The first of only four movers this week, Union County began last week with a 6-2 home win over 9th ranked Webster County (2-4), before dropping two in a row at home to end the week.  7th ranked Trigg County beat the Bravettes 6-2 before 6th ranked Hopkins Central (3-2) rolled them 9-1.  Despite the two losses, the Bravettes moved up one spot on the strength of their win over Webster County.

 

9.  Webster County Lady Trojans (2-4)

The Lady Trojans drop a spot this week after a 6-2 road loss to 8th ranked Union County (5-3).  Webster’s slide continued with two more losses, 5-2 on the road at Ballard Memorial (1-4) and 8-1 at home to Owensboro (3-3-1).  The Lady Trojans only have one match this week, as they’ll be looking to get back on track with a trip to 11th ranked Crittenden County (2-3).

 

10.  Lyon County Lady Lyons (1-6)

The Lady Lyons stay at 10th this week, after a tough week that saw them lose 2-1 to McLean County (1-4-1) and 8-2 to 7th ranked Trigg County (4-3), both at home.  Lyon County will head to Ballard Memorial (1-4) to start the week and will then travel to 11th ranked Crittenden County (2-3) to try to pick up their second win of the season against the Lady Rockets.

 

11.  Crittenden County Lady Rockets (2-3)

Crittenden County began last week with a 10-2 blowout loss at home to 7th ranked Trigg County (4-3), but bounced back to beat Ballard Memorial (1-4) on the road 7-2.  The Lady Rockets have three matches schedule this week, including a chance to move up in the rankings against 2nd Region competition.  They start the week with a trip to Paducah Tilghman (0-6), then welcome 10th ranked Lyon County (1-6) to Marion before ending the week on the road on Saturday at Mayfield (0-4).

 

12.  Fort Campbell Lady Falcons (1-5)

Fort Campbell moves up a spot after splitting two games last week, losing 8-2 at home to South Warren (3-3) before picking up their first win of the season with a 6-1 win on post against Paducah Tilghman (0-6).  The Lady Falcons have two chances this week for 2nd Region road wins when they face 13th ranked Christian County (1-5) to start the week and 5th ranked Madisonville-North Hopkins (3-2-1) on Thursday.

13.  Christian County Lady Colonels (1-5)

The Lady Colonels drop a spot this week, coming off two losses last week.  Christian County dropped a 2-0 decision to St. Mary early in the week, before giving 3rd ranked Hopkinsville (4-2) a good match before falling 4-1.  The Lady Colonels start the week with a chance to jump 12th ranked Fort Campbell (1-5) in the rankings with a win, before hosting Owensboro (3-3-1) in a rare Wednesday match.
