Hopkinsville is preparing for their second round playoff game against Logan County with one thing in mind – revenge.

The Cougars scored on the final play of the game to beat the Tigers 13-12 on Oct. 5 in Russellville. The win kept alive Logan County’s hopes for a district title and undefeated season, while the Tiger loss was the first link in a chain of upsetting events in the days that followed. Starting defensive back E.J. Austin was killed in an accidental shooting just two days after the Logan loss.

The Tigers (5-6) have rallied around their fallen teammate, winning all four games since the loss to Logan County. During that time, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 155-13. In last week’s 21-7 opening round win over Warren East, the Tigers held the Raiders to 249 total yards and picked off three passes.

Logan County (11-0) hammered Warren Central 54-18 last week in their first one playoff game since 1989. Friday, they will host a second playoff game in the same season for the first time. Sophomore Gary Hardy ran for 83 yards and a touchdown, while fellow sophomore quarterback Tyler Ezell threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns.

Kickoff Friday is 7pm at Cougar Field.
