Austin Peay State University women’s golf is pleased to announce the additions of Shelby Darnell and Taylor Dedmen during the early signing period. Darnell hails from Madisonville, where she has been an integral part of Sam Westfall’s Madisonville North Hopkins High squad the last four seasons, including all-state campaigns in 2016 and 2017.
Darnell scored victories on the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour, Mussellman-Dunne Tour and multiple prep events, in addition to the West Kentucky College Showcase. She also made history as the first female invited to play the Eli Barron Invitational—and took first place in her division.
Dedmen, a Plant City, Florida, product, was a four-year district and region medalist, wrapping her career as the No. 1 player in Pinellas County and was a Tampa Bay Times first-team of Tampa Bay honoree throughout her playing career.
Darnell and Dedmen join a talented Austin Peay squad which just won the Town and Country Invitational in Nashville and should return four lineup regulars for the 2018-19 season.
