A youth baseball team based in Lyon County is headed off to regional play after picking up a state championship over the weekend. The Lyon County Junior Babe Ruth team went undefeated in the state tournament on their way to picking up the title.
The Lyon County team began the tournament with pool play against southwest Louisville and Germantown. They defeated southwest Louisville 19-3, and then Germantown 2-0, which seeded them #1 in the bracket play of the tournament.
In the bracket play portion of the event, Lyon County defeated southwest Louisville again, this time by a score of 16-0. They followed that up with a win over Germantown 10-2.
Lyon County then won the championship by defeating Okalona 5-3.
The Lyon County team picked up strong pitching from Corey Cissell, Brady Darnall, Deontaye walls, Gunnar Bingham, Christian O’daniel, Austin Long. and Aidan Rush
Lyon County advances to Ohio valley regional in Elkins, WV, July 27-30.
