The University of Louisville introduced Holly Aprile as their new head softball coach Wednesday, and she could be bringing a familiar name with her as an assistant coach.

Aprile was the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Coach of the Year at Pitt, where she spent 10 seasons as head coach. Former Christian County Miss Softball and Kentucky All-SEC catcher Griffin Joiner could be following Aprile to Louisville. Joiner was an assistant on Pitt’s staff in 2018, and The Pitt News reported Wednesday that former Pitt catcher Giorgiana Zeremenko said Joiner will join Aprile’s staff. Louisville did not confirm this with the reporter when asked.

After serving as a graduate assistant coach at Kentucky, Joiner joined Aprile’s staff at Pitt before the 2018 season.
Aprile takes over for Sandy Pearsall, who retired after 19 seasons and 718 wins.
