The Christian County boys’ soccer team hosted the Colonel Showcase at the Stadium of Champions on Saturday, settling for a 3-3 draw with Mayfield and falling 9-2 to Owensboro in the nightcap.  The Colonels are winless in their last 6 matches and slip to 5-10-1 overall.

An Emmanuel Ixcol free kick gave the Colonels the early lead against Mayfield, but Anthony Lemus even things up with a goal 10 minutes before the halftime break.  Ixcol was on target again with 28 minutes to play, followed quickly by Thomas Barrett’s first goal of the season for a 3-1 Colonel lead.

With 8 minutes left, the Colonels conceded a penalty kick that Austin Raiyney converted to cut the lead to 1.  Christian County was seconds away from victory, but Raiyney struck again to to deny the Colonels and force the 3-3 draw.

In the last game of the night, the Colonels would start slow against Owensboro and find themselves down 6-0 before Ixcol got them on the board with under 5 minutes to play in the first half.  Down 9-1 with less than 2 minutes to play, Ixcol finished off a scramble in the box after Luke Ferrell had his penalty kick saved for the final 9-2 score.

The Colonels are back on the field at the Stadium of Champions on Monday when Caldwell County (1-10-1) makes the trip to Hopkinsville.
