One of Caldwell County’s two girls’ golfers to play in area competition this year is now headed off to the girls’ state golf tournament. Caldwell County’s Campbell Knoth, Trigg County’s Alex Ethridge and Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown were in action at the 1st Region girls’ golf tournament at The Country Club of Paducah on Monday.
Through an almost continual rain, seniors Knoth and Ethridge turned in scores of 86 and 103, respectively, while 8th grader Brown shot an 88. Knoth’s finish was good enough for 8th place, while Brown tied for ninth.
Knoth’s score qualifies her for the Leachman GMC-Cadillac-Buick/KHSAA State Golf Tournament October 2-3 at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Crittenden County’s Lauren Gilchrist shot an 81 and also qualified for the state tournament.
